As a Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school, Ormeau Woods State High strives to influence and manage behaviour by creating a positive learning environment which establishes expectations, reinforces desired behaviours and develops student accountability for their own actions and self management.
PB4L is a whole-school framework which assists schools to develop consistent positive learning environments for all students. This is achieved by explicitly teaching behaviour expectations, acknowledging and rewarding positive behaviour, consistently applying classroom routines to foster positive, respectful relationships and also to motivate students to learn and achieve their goals.
Responsible behaviour process
The consequences of breaches of the stated standards of behaviour will be addressed through the school’s Responsible Behaviour Policy (PDF, 657KB) which incorporates the principles of natural justice, compliance with policies and practices of Education Queensland and legal requirements.
Discipline Audit Reports
As part of an initiative to strengthen discipline in Queensland State schools, Discipline Audits are conducted in every Queensland state school. The purpose of the Discipline Audit is to provide quality feedback on how the school is ensuring an safe, supportive and disciplined learning environment and to inform school behaviour management planning processes.
The audit is conducted by an independent, experienced school principal who visits the school to collect a range of data and information about school-wide, programs and procedures in the area of discipline. An Executive Summary is provided to the school as well as a 5 page report.
