Welcome to Ormeau Woods State High School
Located at the corner of Goldmine Road and Minka Lane, Ormeau Woods State High School has been part of the community since its opening in 2009. Starting with just 250 students in Years 8 and 9, the school has grown to include students from Years 7 to 12, with most coming from local feeder schools: Norfolk Village State School, Ormeau State School, and Woongoolba State School.
At Ormeau Woods, we are committed to innovative education, combining modern technologies and creative approaches to learning. Our school focuses on excellence in four key areas, academic achievement, cultural and creative pursuits, sports, and community service, known as our 'Four Pillars.'
We offer a dynamic and flexible learning environment tailored to meet the needs of modern learners. Students have access to pathways that prepare them for university, vocational careers, or industry-focused opportunities. Partnerships with universities, TAFE, and training organisations allow students to participate in School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships. Our Excellence Academy programs in Academic, Dance, Fine Arts, Media Industries, Soccer, and Rugby League nurture exceptional talent, helping students excel in their chosen fields.
Our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) framework fosters a supportive and respectful school culture. Guided by our core values—Respect for Teaching and Learning, Respect for Myself and Others, and Respect for Property, students learn responsibility, conflict resolution, and active community participation.
Ormeau Woods is more than just a school, it’s a vibrant, forward-thinking community where students are inspired to grow, succeed, and contribute to shaping a bright future.
