Our Vision for Teaching and Learning with ICT's

The use of technology has very much become part of students' lives and the reality is that online tools and resources have changed the educational landscape and support the development of 21st Century learning skills.

At Ormeau Woods State High School, we operate a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) Program. We have a genuine belief around "Linking Learning with Life" and the opportunities that this motto affords us in our teaching and learning initiatives. We believe that learning is a lively activity that engages students and teachers and we recognise the need for our technology program to support and amplify this motto and practice.

Tools for Learning

At Ormeau Woods State High School, we think deeply about what exciting 21st Century careers are being created for our students in the future, how we can prepare them for the technology-rich environments they will be using post-school, and the creative and cooperative skills they will need to work. We want to ensure that students have access and the opportunity to leverage tools that will support their engagement and participation in learning.

We strongly encourage all students enrolled at Ormeau Woods State High School to engage in all teaching and learning opportunities by coming equipped with a suitable digital tool. We believe in equity accessing the same learning experience, and utilise Apple iPad® as our BYOD hardware.

If you require financial support by the provision of an iPad, we encourage you to contact us so we can engage in a conversation to support you.

Why iPads®

Our BYOD iPad® program supports our intentions to provide a personalised, challenging and connected learning experience. The creative tools and the ecosystem allow students to participate in learning, supporting our vision to deliver on a 21st century curriculum.

Our evidence in practice to date has shown that the iPad® has enabled students to have more choice in the way they construct their understanding and show their learning. Their portability supports collaborative tasks, learning from each other and in a variety of spaces – not just in the four walls of a classroom. Students also have been demonstrating how they can combine a variety of tools to create rich content and demonstrate their extraordinary digital skills.
